Measure the shoulder height and body length and add 5-10 cm for the ideal size. A crate that is too small causes stress, while one that is too large offers insufficient support during an emergency stop. For air travel, always choose an IATA-approved flight crate with adequate ventilation.

For car use, sturdy plastic transport crates are the safest option. They absorb impact in a collision and are easy to clean. Secure the crate with a seatbelt or strap. For small dogs, soft travel carriers are a practical alternative, especially for short trips to the vet or groomer. Always choose a model with sufficient ventilation openings and a sturdy frame.
