How to measure my sisal post?

📏
Measure the diameter
Measure the outer diameter of the sisal post at the thickest point, including the sisal rope. Use a measuring tape or caliper. Common thicknesses: 8, 9, 11, 12, 15 and 20 cm.
📐
Measure the length
Measure the total length of the post including the screw thread at top and bottom. Most replacement posts come in standard lengths of 20, 30, 40, 50 and 70 cm.
🔩
Check the thread
Unscrew the old post and inspect the metal rod. M8 (8 mm thick) is standard for cat trees up to Ø12 cm. M10 (10 mm) is used for heavier cat trees for large cats.
🧶
Sisal or jute?
Sisal rope is sturdy and scratch-resistant, the best choice for active scratchers. Jute rope is softer and quieter but wears faster. Most cat trees use sisal of 6-10 mm thickness.

Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about replacing cat tree parts.

How do I know which sisal post I need?
Measure the diameter and length of your current post. Check the thread or mounting type (M8, M10 or press-fit). Most replacement posts come in standard diameters of 8, 9 and 12 cm.
Do your replacement posts fit any scratching post?
Our posts fit most standard scratching posts. Check the thread type and diameter before ordering. If in doubt, contact us with a photo and measurements.
What is the difference between sisal and jute?
Sisal is harder, more durable and preferred by most cats for scratching. Jute is softer and cheaper but wears faster. For heavy scratchers, sisal is the better choice.
Can I replace sisal posts myself?
Yes, most posts simply screw in or press-fit into place. You need basic tools at most. Our replacement posts come with mounting instructions.
How often should I replace scratching post parts?
Sisal posts: every 6 to 18 months depending on use. Platforms: when sagging or unstable. Fabric covers: when torn or heavily worn. Regular replacement keeps the post attractive.
Do you sell replacement platforms too?
Yes, we stock replacement platforms, base plates and cushions alongside sisal posts. Check the measurements of your current platform before ordering.
Is it worth replacing parts or should I buy a new post?
Replacing parts is often much cheaper, especially for quality posts. If the frame is still solid, new sisal and covers can make it look and function like new.
What if my thread type does not match?
Contact us with a photo and measurements. We can often find a compatible solution or suggest an adapter. Most common thread types are covered in our range.

Sisal posts, the most replaced part

The sisal post is the part that wears fastest. Active scratchers fray the rope within a year. Our replacement sisal posts are available from Ø8 cm (standard cat trees) to Ø20 cm (heavy Maine Coon cat trees). All posts come with thread (M8 or M10) and are easily hand-mounted, no tools needed.

Platforms, hammocks & base plates

Besides sisal posts, we also offer replacement platforms, soft hammocks and base plates. Is the plush on a platform worn or does the hammock sag? Replace it individually and give your cat tree a second life. Especially for cat trees for large cats, this is a smart investment: the frame lasts years, only the covering and sisal wear out.

Mounting hardware & ceiling tensioners

Ceiling cat trees are held in place by a tension screw between the top of the cat tree and the ceiling. Over time this can loosen. A replacement ceiling tensioner ensures your cat tree stands rock-solid again, essential for your cat's safety.

Sustainable and budget-friendly

A replacement sisal post often costs less than €15, a fraction of a new cat tree that easily costs €100 to €300. By replacing only the worn part, you save money and reduce waste.

New cat tree or replacement parts?

Replacing parts is the best choice when the base structure (frame, base, connections) is still sturdy. Is the wooden frame warped, does the base still wobble after tightening all screws, or does the cat tree no longer suit your cat's size? Then a new cat tree is a better investment. Browse our cat trees or choose a sturdy model from our large cat range.
