Washable dog bed that is fully machine washable at Bopets

Why choose a fully washable dog bed?

The great advantage of a washable dog bed is the convenience: you put the entire bed in the washing machine, no fussing with zips or loose covers. After a wash at 30 °C, the machine-washable dog bed is completely fresh. Fully washable beds are especially practical for puppies still being house-trained, dogs that love rolling in mud and older dogs with incontinence. Discover what to look for below ↓

Washable dog bed vs. bed with washable cover: the difference

It sounds similar, but there is an important difference. A washable dog bed goes into the washing machine in its entirety: filling, cover and all. You do not need to remove or unzip anything. A machine-washable dog bed is therefore fully washable and exceptionally hygienic for daily use. A dog bed with washable cover on the other hand has a removable outer cover that you wash separately, but the filling itself cannot go in the machine. A washable dog bed is ideal if you want to toss the entire bed in the machine without any hassle. Both options have their advantages.

What to look for in a washable dog bed?

Filling and shape retention: choose a bed with polyester fibre filling that dries quickly after washing and retains its shape. Foam rubber is less suitable for full washing as it retains moisture for a long time.

Wash temperature: most machine-washable dog beds can be washed at 30 °C. Do not use fabric softener as it damages the fibres. Let the bed air dry completely before your dog uses it again.

Size: the same measuring rules apply as for regular dog beds. Measure your dog from nose to tail base and add 15 to 20 cm. A washable dog bed that is too small will be ignored by your dog.

Who is a washable dog bed ideal for?

Puppies that are still being house-trained and regularly have accidents. Active dogs that love swimming, rolling in mud or walking in the rain. Older dogs with incontinence or skin problems. And allergy-prone dogs where regular washing is needed to remove dust mites and allergens. With a washable dog bed you have the sleeping spot clean again in half an hour.

Frequently asked questions washable dog beds: the whole bed in the washing machine

What is the difference between a washable dog bed and one with a washable cover?
A fully washable dog bed can go entirely into the washing machine. A bed with a washable cover only has a removable cover, while the insert stays dry. The first option is more hygienic, the second easier to handle for larger sizes.
At what temperature can a washable dog bed go in the machine?
Most washable dog beds can be washed at 30 to 40 degrees. Check the care label on the product. Avoid high temperatures to preserve the shape and quality of the filling.
How often should I wash a washable dog bed?
At least once a month. For dogs that shed a lot or spend much time outdoors, every two weeks is recommended. Vacuum the bed in between to remove loose hair and dirt.
Does a washable dog bed keep its shape after washing?
Good-quality washable beds with memory foam or resilient filling keep their shape after washing. Let the bed dry completely before use. Follow the care instructions for the best result.
Is a washable dog bed suitable for puppies?
Absolutely! Puppies have more accidents, so a fully washable bed is ideal. Choose a bed that fits the expected adult size to save money in the long run.
